Papers are welcome that examine the (aesthetic/poetological) relevance of Greek and Roman classics for nineteenth-century British literature. Please submit 200-word abstracts by 10 March 2012 to Wolfram Keller (wolfram.keller@staff.hu-berlin.de).

Building Ethnic and National Identities through Life Writing

a panel of the Biography, Autobiography, and Life Writing  division

Historically and today, autobiographies and biographies have often been deployed to help construct ("imagine" in B. Anderson's terms) an ethic, national, or other  type of community in many places of the world. Please note that the submission must have to do with a how a life writing text has contributed to the building of a certain community.

Send 250-word abstracts and 1-page cv to Irene Kacandes (irene.kacandes@dartmouth.edu) by March 8. 

William Morris Society CFP MLA 2013: "Morris on the East Coast" (3/15/2012; 1/3-6/2013)

The William Morris Society in the United States invite proposals for a session at the Modern Language Association annual convention (to be held in Boston, 3-6 January 2013) on the subject "Morris on the East Coast."  Topics might encompass literary, political, and personal connections as well as art, design, bookmaking, and architecture.
