At noon on Thursday, July 11, the University of Delaware Library and the Delaware Art Museum will sponsor an informal discussion by Laura Kilbride of her research. She is the 2013 holder of the Fellowship in Pre-Raphaelite Studies, which is jointly funded by the University of Delaware Library and the Delaware Art Museum
A luncheon buffet will be provided by the Library. Acceptances are requested via email at libraryrsvp@winsor.lib.udel.edu . Although acceptances are strongly encouraged, walk-ins are welcome. This program is open to the public.
Laura Kilbride is in residence from mid-June through mid-July 2013 to use the resources of the Delaware Art Museum, the University of Delaware Library, and the Mark Samuels Lasner Collection. She is studying the relationship of the poet Algernon Charles Swinburne and the painter-poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti from their first meeting in 1857 through 1868, when Swinburne commented on his friend’s art in “Notes on Some Pictures of 1868.” A Ph.D. candidate at St. John’s College, University of Cambridge, UK, she is writing a dissertation on “Swinburne’s Style."
